Band: Om
Om is a psychedelic doom/rock band hailing from San Fransisco, California. Om was formed in 2003 by doom metal legends Sleep's drummer (Chris Hankius) and bassist (Al Cisneros). Om has a very spacey, heavy sound with intricate drums and mesmerizing vocals. If you're looking for a second Sleep, you're not going to find it here. Om forged a unique sound right from the beginning, showing that the stoner duo could look beyond the smoke-filled vision that was Sleep. Cisneros' vocals suck you in, and hold you as he weaves tales about lands long gone, while a steady rhythm pounds your skull in, removes your brain, rearranges it, and sticks it back in. If you're looking for an Om album to check out, I'd recommend nabbing both Variations On A Theme and 2007's Pilgrimage, both released on Southern Lord records. It was a bit hard for me to pick on Om song to post with this, considering the majority of their songs are 10 minute plus epics. However, here's Unitive Knowledge of The Godhead, from Pilgrimage. Enjoy, and again, be sure to let me know what you think.
